Let’s Run: 12 Week Runners Guide - Building up to a 10 mile long run is one of the running guides available in our Let’s Move training program. This is a running plan for anyone who wants to focus on BUILDING MILEAGE and endurance!

 

This plan is 12 weeks and includes 4 days of running. The plan starts at a total weekly mileage of 12 miles and builds up to 20 miles by the end of week 12. The goal of this plan is to build mileage and get comfortable building distance at your own pace. The first weeks long run is 4 miles and works its way up to 10 miles by week 12.

 

The plan doesn’t include speed workouts, but if you want to incorporate speed, use Tuesdays to challenge yourself by running at a slightly harder pace, or doing timed intervals of easy/hard running for the prescribed miles. Notes on how to do so are provided in the guide. The plan includes important tips regarding fueling, pacing, hydration and also includes a pre run warm up routine.
