Let’s Run: 16 week run/walk running guide for beginners is one of the running guides available through our Let’s Move training program. This guide is perfect for those who want to START running but need a PLAN! This plan is 12 weeks and includes 4 days of running/walking.

 

The plan starts with a 10 minute walk, 5 minute run, 10 minute walk during week 1 and builds up to a 5 minute walk, 40 minute run, 5 min walk during week 16. Slow and steady keeps the fun in the training and keeps up the excitement!

 

The plan doesn’t include speed workouts, but if you want to incorporate speed, use Tuesdays to challenge yourself by running at a slightly quicker pace. Notes on how to do so are provided in the guide. But remember- focus on form, breathing and your excitement when just starting out. Pace will come later. The plan includes important tips regarding fueling, form, hydration and also includes a pre run warm up routine.
